Creative Director of Innovative & Immersive Brand Experience

Driven by a potent mix of novelty and perfectionism, I love pushing technology out of the browser and into physical spaces, installations, and immersive experiences. I’m easily distracted by shiny new tools and thrive on tough challenges, tight deadlines, and emerging technologies.

As a hands-on designer and developer, I approach every project with a production-first mentality by working within and then pushing against constraints. That mindset has helped me successfully navigate uncharted technical terrain and bring ambitious ideas to life with work that's been recognized by Cannes Lions, Emmys, Webbys, and many others.

Active Theory

2012 - 2025

Co-founded Active Theory and served as its Creative Director, shaping the company’s identity and public presence from day one. I helped define the brand’s voice, led social media strategy, and curated how our work was presented across all channels. Over the years, I played a key role in project selection and positioning, making sure every launch reflected a clear, cohesive vision that evolved with the studio’s identity.

Under my creative leadership, the team and the work became known as a pioneer in immersive web experiences, combining technical precision with thoughtful design. Starting in the post-Flash era of 2012, I helped push the creative and technical boundaries of HTML5 and WebGL, placing the studio at the forefront of the modern web. I also expanded our service offerings, guiding the launch of brand extensions like Dreamwave, Magic Window, and Buttermax.

Active Theory went on to be recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, named a top five brand experience agency by Campaign U.S., and the fastest company to reach the FWA Hall of Fame.

Agency Life

2008-2012

Early in my career, I worked at a range of advertising and production agencies, each one bigger than the last, balancing roles as both a designer and developer. The experience gave me a solid perspective on both sides of the creative process, but I often found the work either too siloed or creatively repetitive. That restlessness—and a drive for more integrated, boundary-pushing challenges—eventually led me to look for a more fulfilling path.

Education

2006-2010

Hold dual degrees in Communication Design (Arts) and Computer Science (IT) from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where I earned a place on the Dean’s List for high achievement. University gave me a strong foundation for exploring the intersection of design and technology, and it’s where I discovered my passion for creative production—a space where both disciplines come together seamlessly.

Early Life

Born in Canberra and grew up in Brisbane, shaped by the early days of the internet—Yahoo chatrooms, online games, and the creative chaos of MySpace. My first steps into coding came from scripting Counter-Strike mods, which eventually turned into hand-crafted (and highly “creative”) MySpace layouts for friends—often more expressive than they were usable.

A digital native with a hacker’s curiosity, those early experiences sparked a lasting fascination with interactive media and creative technology. Outside the screen, I represented Australia in inline hockey, bringing the same drive and team mentality that would later define my professional work.
